On leaving Lancaster, trains retrace their steps as far as Morecambe South Junction, where they turn towards the sea and are joined by the link from Hest Bank. Two single tracks now run parallel to one another into Bare Lane station and on to Morecambe. Bare Lane is a short walk from the sea front at Bare, with its dramatic views across Morecambe Bay.
The station is unstaffed, but a signal box controls the adjacent level crossing, and the signalman keeps passengers informed about train running - and which platform their train will arrive at.
